Effective August 13, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how ChallengeWell collects, uses, discloses, stores, and protects personal information when you use the app, website, and related services. By using ChallengeWell, you acknowledge the practices described here. This Policy should be read with the Terms of Service.
1. Information We Collect
Account and profile information: email address, authentication identifiers, username, avatar, birthdate, profile details, preferences, privacy settings, and account status.
Challenge, team, and activity information: challenges, membership, roles, completions, verification activity, streaks, levels, checklist progress, reminders, reactions, status changes, and related activity.
User Content and communications: photos, videos, notes, comments, messages, reviews, reports, support requests, and other content you submit.
Technical and usage information: device type, operating system, app version, push tokens, IP-derived or network information available to providers, logs, diagnostics, timestamps, screens and features used, interactions, sessions, and performance information.
Wellness-related information: challenges and activity may reveal habits, goals, interests, or well-being. ChallengeWell is not intended to collect medical records or provide medical care; avoid entering sensitive medical information that is unnecessary to use the service.
2. How Information Is Collected
We collect information you provide, information generated through use, and information from providers. Device permissions such as camera, photo library, and notifications are used only after device permission is requested.
If you sign in with Apple, Google, or another provider, we may receive your authentication identifier, email, name, or token information according to your provider settings.
3. How We Use Information
We use information to create and secure accounts; confirm eligibility; provide profiles, challenges, teams, chat, media, reminders, notifications, progress, verification, and social features; personalize the experience; and respond to support.
We also use information to moderate content, review reports, enforce rules, prevent fraud and abuse, investigate security, debug and measure performance, improve features, maintain business records, and comply with law. We may use properly aggregated or de-identified information for analytics, safety, research, and improvement.
4. Visibility and Social Features
Depending on the feature, challenge type, membership, and settings, your username, avatar, membership, activity, completion and verification status, levels, comments, messages, reactions, reviews, and media may be visible to other users. Community content may be broadly visible within ChallengeWell. Recipients may save, copy, or share content they can access.
5. Photos, Videos, GIFs, and Device Permissions
If you grant permission or upload media, we process and store it for avatars, covers, verification, stories, memories, comments, and team activity. Media may contain metadata supplied by your device or file.
GIF searches and selections may be sent to and delivered by a third-party GIF provider, which may receive search terms and technical information under its policy. Camera, library, and notification permissions can be managed in device settings, although disabling them may limit features.
6. Notifications and Reminders
If enabled, we and our providers use push tokens and relevant activity to deliver reminders, messages, challenge updates, friend requests, team activity, and service communications. You can manage reminder settings in the app and notification permission on your device. Delivery timing is not guaranteed.
7. Moderation, Reports, and Safety
We may use automated filtering and human review to identify potentially objectionable content, enforce rules, protect users, and maintain security. Automated systems can make mistakes.
When you submit a report, we collect the report, reason, relevant content and account identifiers, timestamps, and actions taken. We may preserve and review relevant information and disclose limited information where reasonably necessary to investigate, protect safety or rights, or comply with law.
8. How We Disclose Information
We disclose information to other users as described above and to vendors providing hosting, databases, storage, authentication, notifications, GIF search, diagnostics, security, and support. Providers may process information only for authorized services and under their applicable commitments.
We may disclose information to comply with law or legal process; respond to emergencies; protect users, rights, property, or security; investigate fraud or abuse; enforce agreements; or complete a financing, merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale subject to safeguards.
We do not sell personal information for money and do not use it for third-party targeted advertising. If this changes, we will update this Policy and provide legally required choices first.
9. Data Retention
We retain information while an account is active and as reasonably necessary to provide ChallengeWell, maintain security and business records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and comply with law. Retention varies by information and purpose.
After deletion, information may temporarily remain in backups, logs, caches, audit records, content shared with others, or records needed for fraud prevention, safety, disputes, or legal compliance. We delete or de-identify information when no longer reasonably required, subject to these exceptions.
10. Your Choices and Privacy Rights
You can update certain profile, birthdate, privacy, reminder, and notification settings. You may request access, correction, deletion, or withdrawal of consent where applicable, subject to exceptions. Account deletion is available through Account Settings.
Contact challengewellsupport@gmail.com about privacy rights or if you cannot access in-app controls. We may verify your identity. Depending on your location, you may have additional rights, including complaining to a privacy regulator. We will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable rights.
11. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including access controls and provider security features. No transmission or storage system is completely secure. Protect your credentials and device and contact support promptly if you suspect compromise.
12. Children
ChallengeWell is not directed to children under 13, or a higher minimum age where required. We do not knowingly permit them to create accounts or knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child below the applicable minimum age provided information, contact support so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
13. International Processing
ChallengeWell and its providers may process and store information in Canada, the United States, and other countries. Their laws may differ from those where you live, and information may be accessible to courts, law enforcement, or regulators under applicable law. Where required, we use contractual or other safeguards intended to protect cross-border transfers.
14. Third-Party Links and Services
ChallengeWell may contain third-party content or links. This Policy does not govern third parties' independent practices. Review their policies before providing information directly to them.
15. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy as ChallengeWell or legal requirements change. We will update the effective date and provide additional notice or seek consent when required. Material changes apply prospectively unless law permits otherwise.
